Alice Bennett

My name is Alice Bennett. I have lived in Nashville all my life. I was introduced to hockey at a very early age. I knew what "icing" and "freezing the puck" were before I started grade school. If I were to have been a hockey player, I guess I would have been either a defenceman or a goalie. When I was very young, my sister, one of my brothers myself and two neighbor kids would be one team by ourselves and my oldest brother would be the other team by himself (only because he really played junior hockey and we didn't) and we would play hockey in the back yard. I was frequently the goalkeeper. You have to keep in mind that the goal was 2 trees about 6-8 feet apart and the top shelf was were the branches first came out from the tree, which was about 12-15 feet up. Needless to say my goalie numbers were not good at all.

I graduated high school and got an Associate Degree in veterinary technology and have practiced as a licensed vet tech for 12 years. I have spent probably the last 15 years doing animal rescues with my sister. Over the years we have fostered, cared for, and found homes for approx. 700-900 animals. We have taken care of every thing including dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, birds, opossums, squirrels, rabbits and raccoons.

I'm single and live with my 2 cats, one of which is deaf, and my 4 dogs who love hockey also but still can't quite understand the 2-line pass thing. We're still working on that one. They completely understand "tripping" as we practice that one every night at suppertime.

The last couple of years, I have been working as a Care Partner, which is like a nursing assistant at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. This has been really good, because a few times during the year, the Predators have come to the hospital to visit the children, so I get to see first hand their community work.

I've tried to recruit new hockey fans at work and have found a few who back up my love for the Predators and hockey. That's why my E-mail address is predatorqueen because not too many others on my floor know anything about hockey. Every time the guys come up to the floor, someone runs to get me because I am the only one who knows who they are and what they do on the team. I kinda like it that way. Go Preds
